Caramelized Apples With Sugar Glazed Yogurt Recipe
Ingredients
| 8 Granny Smith apples (about 3% pounds), peeled and cored | ||
| 1/4 cup reduced-calorie margarine, divided | ||
| Sugar | 1/3 Cup (16 tbs), divided | |
| Ground cinnamon | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Ground nutmeg | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Ground allspice | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Ground cloves | 1/8 Teaspoon | |
| Vegetable cooking spray | ||
| Yogurt Sauce | ||
| 3 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon brown sugar | ||
Directions
Cut each apple into 8 wedges; cut each wedge into 3 pieces.
Pat apple dry with paper towels.
Melt 2 tablespoons margarine in a large nonstick skillet.
Add half of the apple, and saute 2 minutes.
Gradually add half of the sugar, and cook 8 to 10 minutes or until apple is tender and lightly browned, stirring frequently.
Remove from skillet, and set aside.
Repeat with remaining margarine, apple, and sugar.
Combine cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves; stir well.
Sprinkle over apple; toss gently.
Spoon evenly into 10 (6-ounce) custard cups coated with cooking spray.
Spoon Yogurt Sauce evenly over apple mixture.
Place custard cups on a baking sheet.
Sprinkle each with 1 teaspoon brown sugar.
Broil 5 1/2 inches from heat 2 minutes or until sugar melts
