Caramel Apples Recipe
Ingredients
| 16small to medium apples, washed and dried | ||
| Sweetened condensed milk | 2 Can (10oz) | |
| Light corn syrup | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Sugar | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Firmly packed brown sugar | 2/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Butter/Margarine | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Vanilla extract | 1 Tablespoon | |
Directions
Remove stems and blossoms from apples; insert 4- to 6-inch wooden skewers in stem ends of apples; set aside.
Mix condensed milk, corn syrup, sugar, and brown sugar together in a large heavy saucepan.
Set candy thermometer in place.
Stirring constantly, cook to 234°F (soft-ball stage), about 35 minutes.
During cooking, occasionally remove thermometer and stir completely around bottom and sides of pan.
Remove from heat and stir in butter and extract.
Set pan over very hot water and quickly dip and twirl apples in caramel mixture to coat evenly.
Cool on a well-greased baking sheet, skewers upright.
