Ingredients

 Eggs3 , separated
 Sugar1/2 Cup (16 tbs)
 1/4 cup Caramel Syrup
 All purpose flour6 Tablespoon
 Baking powder1/2 Teaspoon
 Salt1/2 Teaspoon
 Cream of tartar1/4 Teaspoon
 Almonds1/3 Cup (16 tbs), chopped
 Whipped cream

Directions

Beat egg yolks until thick.
Beat in 1/4 cup sugar and syrup.
Sift flour, baking powder, and salt, and stir in.
Beat egg whites until foamy; add cream of tartar.
Beat until whites begin to hold their shape.
Gradually add remaining sugar and beat until stiff but not dry.
Fold into first mixture.
Add almonds.
Pour into ungreased 9-inch layer-cake pan and bake in preheated moderate oven (350°F.) for about 25 minutes.
Remove from pan and let cool; top with whipped cream.
