Caramel Pears Recipe

I have used this Caramel Pears recipe more than a hundred times. I have no idea about the origins of this Caramel Pears. But thanks to whomever I got it from!

Ingredients

 
6 tablespoons butter or margarine
 
1/4 cup water
 
3 tablespoons brown sugar
 
8 medium-sized pears
 
8 small lemon leaves for garnish

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 425°F. In shallow casserole or 12" by 8" baking dish (the dish should be large enough to hold all the pears in single layer) in oven, heat butter or margarine, water, and brown sugar until butter and brown sugar melt and mixture is smooth. Remove casserole from oven.
2. Meanwhile, peel pears. With apple corer, remove cores from bottoms of pears, but do not remove stems. Arrange pears in syrup in casserole. Cover casserole with foil and bake 30 to 40 minutes, until pears are tender, occasionally basting pears with syrup in casserole. Arrange pears in dessert dishes; garnish each pear with a lemon leaf. Pour some caramel syrup over each pear.
