Cantaloupe Crown Recipe

Cantaloupe crown is a melon and gelatin dessert made with lemon and lime flavors. Prepared with twin flavored gelatin and chilled lemon and lime beverage, this lovely dessert is absolutely essential for the summer.

Ingredients

 
1 small cantaloupe
 
1 3-ounce package lemon-lime-flavored gelatin
 
1 3-ounce package lime-flavored gelatin
 
2 1/2 cups boiling water
 
1/4 cup lemon juice
 
Dash salt
 
1 7-ounce bottle lemon-lime carbonated beverage, chilled

Directions

Halve cantaloupe; remove seeds and rind.
Cut in wedges about 3/4 inch thick at the widest part.
Dissolve lemon-lime- and lime-flavored gelatins in boiling water; stir in lemon juice and salt.
Cool.
Pour carbonated beverage slowly down side of bowl into gelatin; stir gently to mix.
Chill till partially set.
Arrange cantaloupe in 6 1/2 cup fluted tube mold.
Carefully pour a fourth of the gelatin mixture into mold covering bottom of cantaloupe.
Chill gelatin in mold till almost firm.
Leave remaining gelatin at room temperature.
Slowly pour half of remaining gelatin mixture into mold; chill till almost firm.
Pour remaining gelatin into mold; chill till firm.
