Canned Pears Recipe
Ingredients
4 pounds pears
3 1/2 cups water
1 3/4 cups sugar
3 tablespoons bottled lemon juice
6 pint jars or 3 quart jars (with bands and lids)
Directions
Peel, core and halve pears lengthwise.
In 6- to 8-quart saucepan, combine water, sugar and lemon juice.
Over medium-high heat, bring to a boil.
Add pears and return to a boil.
Remove from heat.
Immediately fill jars with pears and syrup, leaving 1/2-inch headspace.
Carefully run a non-metallic utensil down inside of jars to remove trapped air bubbles.
Wipe jar tops and threads clean.
Place hot lids on jars and screw bands on firmly.
Process in boiling water canner 20 minutes for pint jars, 25 minutes for quart jars.
