Candy Apples Recipe
candy apples are dessert apples prepared with sugar, water and corn syrup and flavored with vanilla. Placed on wodden skewers, the apples are dipped in the syrup and left to cool before serving. The cany apples can be served as dessert.
Ingredients
2 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. water
1 t. vanilla
1 t. red food coloring
1/2 c. white corn syrup
10 medium apples
10 wooden skewers
Directions
Wash and dry apples, insert skewers in the blossom end.
Combine sugar, water, vanilla and food coloring and cook in a large, deep pan.
During cooking the crystals which form on pan should not be stirred into the candy.
Continue cooking without stirring to hard crack stage (280°).
Remove from heat, hold apples by skewers and dip into syrup.
Put on buttered platter to cool.
