Grandma'S Candied Yams Recipe
Ingredients
| 3 1/2 to 4 pounds yams, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes | ||
| 3/4 cup packed dark brown sugar | ||
| Butter | 4 Tablespoon, melted | |
| Ground cinnamon | 1 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Nutmeg | 1/4 Teaspoon, grated | |
| Orange juice | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Brandy | 3 Tablespoon | |
| Orange zest | 1 1/2 Teaspoon, grated | |
| Miniature marshmallows | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Chopped pecans | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), toasted | |
Directions
1. Place the yams in a 4-quart electric slow cooker. In a medium bowl, mix together the brown sugar, melted butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, and orange juice. Spoon over the yams.
2. Cover and cook on the low heat setting 5 1/2 to 6 hours, stirring once, if possible, until the yams are tender.
3. Stir in the brandy and orange zest. Sprinkle the marshmallows and pecans over the top. Cover and cook 5 minutes longer, or until the marshmallows are melted.
