Ingredients

 Sugar2 Cup (16 tbs)
 Water1 Cup (16 tbs)
 1/3 cup red cinnamon candies
 Whole cloves
 Firm apples, peeled and cored and sliced crosswise in 1/2 in rings

Directions

Make syrup in a fry pan.
Cook the apple slices in syrup turning often until tender and transparent.
Remove to a deep platter with slotted spoon.
Pour remaining syrup over apples.
