Caldeirada Recipe
Caldeirada is a fish recipe prepared with chilies. Cooked with ginger and a hint of turmeric , the caldeirada is spicy and served with a sprinkling of red chili powder before serving.
Ingredients
Large mackerel or sardines 1
Ginger 1" piece
Oil 3 tbsp
Vinegar 1 tbsp
Ground turmeric 1/4 tsp
Red or green peppers and
or green chillies 4
Water
Salt as per taste
Directions
Make a layer of a few sliced onions and tomato in a pan and place half of the total fish on it.
Make another layer of onions/tomato and fishes on the first prepared layer.
Then sprinkle and scatter the garlic, ginger and remaining onions on this layer.
Pour the oil, vinegar and about 6-7 tablespoons water over the fish.
Add salt.
Cook on a low heat until fish is half done.
Add peppers/chillies.
Cook until fish is tender.
Cook it for another 5 to 7 mins.
When done, turn off the gas.
Sprinkle red chilli powder & serve.
