Cabbage Plus Slaw Recipe
The cabbage plus slaw is a light and tossed salad dish that can be served as a side to meals. Prepared with green and red cabbage along with alfalfa sprouts, peas and carrots and dressed with milk, sandwich spread, celery seed, the cabbage plus slaw can be topped with chopped or whole walnuts.
Ingredients
3 cups shredded green cabbage
1 cup shredded red cabbage
1 cup alfalfa sprouts
1 cup shredded carrot
1 cup fresh pea pods or frozen pea pods, thawed
1/2 cup sandwich spread
1 tablespoon milk
1/4 teaspoon celery seed
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup broken walnuts
Directions
In a large mixing bowl combine cabbage, alfalfa sprouts, carrot, and pea pods.
For dressing, in a small mixing bowl combine sandwich spread, milk, celery seed, and salt.
Pour dressing over cabbage mixture and toss lightly to coat.
Cover and chill thoroughly.
Just before serving, gently stir in walnuts.
