Ingredients

 Ham bone1
 Hot water6 Cup (16 tbs)
 1 cup diagonally sliced carrot, 1/2-in. slices
 3/4 cup diagonally sliced celery, 1/2-in. slices
 Onion1/4 Cup (16 tbs), chopped
 Garlic1 Clove (5gm), minced
 Bay Leaf1
 Dried basil leaves1/2 Teaspoon
 Pepper1/4 Teaspoon
 Cabbage8 Cup (16 tbs), coarsely chopped
 1/2 lb. chorizo sausage, cut into 1-in. slices

Directions

In 5-qt casserole combine ham bone, water, carrot, celery, onion, garlic, bay leaf, basil and pepper; cover.
Microwave at High 45 minutes, turning ham bone over after every 15 minutes.
Remove ham bone.
Stir in cabbage and sausage; cover.
Microwave at High 5 to 12 minutes, or until cabbage is tender-crisp, stirring 2 or 3 times.
Cut ham from bone; trim fat.
Discard fat and bone.
Cut ham into small pieces and return to soup.
Spoon into two freezer containers.
Label and freeze no longer than 2 months.
To serve, remove from one container and place in 2-qt casserole; cover.
Microwave at 70% (Medium-High) 17 to 25 minutes, or until heated, breaking apart and stirring 2 or 3 times.
