Ingredients

 All purpose flour1 Cup (16 tbs)
 Firmly packed light brown sugar1 Cup (16 tbs)
 Baking powder2 Teaspoon
 1 egg, lightly beaten
 Salt1 Teaspoon
 Vanilla1 1/2 Teaspoon
 Unsalted butter1/2 Cup (16 tbs)
 Nuts3/4 Cup (16 tbs), chopped

Directions

Sift flour with baking powder and salt.
In a heavy saucepan melt butter over low heat, stir in sugar, a little at a time, and continue to stir the mixture until the sugar is dissolved.
Let cool 5 minutes.
Stir in egg, flour mixture, vanilla, and nuts.
Pour into a buttered 8 inch square baking pan and bake in a 350° F oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let cool in the pan.
