Buttermilk Spice Cake Recipe
This buttermilk spice cake recipe easily finds way to the top of my favorite list. A delicious main dish, the buttermilk spice cake completes your meal. This buttermilk spice cake is surely going to make you popular amongst your friends once you treat them to it.
Ingredients
4 tbsp. butter or margarine
1 cup light brown sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 cups unbleached white flour
1/2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. baldng powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/4 tsp. mace
1 tsp. cinnamon
Topping:
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup roasted and ground soy sprouts
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°.
Make topping by putting all ingredients in bowl and working together with fingers, blending well.
Set aside.
In mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light.
Beat in egg.
Mix together all dry ingredients.
Add to butter mixture alternately with buttermilk.
Blend well.
Pour into buttered 9-inch square pan.
Cover with topping.
Bake for 35-40 minutes until cake tests done.
