Nutty Buttermilk Coffee Cake Recipe
Ingredients
| All purpose flour | 1 1/4 Cup(16 tbs) | |
| Packed brown sugar | 3/4 Cup(16 tbs) | |
| Butter/Margarine | 1/3 Cup(16 tbs) | |
| Baking powder | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Baking soda | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Ground cinnamon | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Ground nutmeg | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| 2/3 cup buttermilk or 1/2 cup dairy sour cream | ||
| Egg | 1 , beaten | |
| Nuts | 1/4 Cup(16 tbs), chopped | |
Directions
In a medium bowl combine flour and brown sugar.
Using a pastry blender, cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Set aside 1/4 cup of the crumb mixture.
To the remaining crumb mixture, add baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Mix well.
Add buttermilk and egg.
Mix well.
Spread batter in a greased 8x8x2-inch baking pan.
Stir together the reserved crumb mixture and nuts.
Sprinkle over batter.
