Buttered New Peas and Lettuce Recipe
Ingredients
| 6 bib lettuce leaves or 10-12 leaf lettuce leaves | ||
| 5 cups fresh, young shelled peas | ||
| Green onions | 2 , chopped | |
| Butter | 2 Tablespoon | |
| 1 tbsp chicken stock or water | ||
| Sugar | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
Directions
Line a 2-quart saucepan with the lettuce leaves.
Add the peas.
Sprinkle on the green onions and add butter, stock, and sugar.
Cover and cook gently for 20-30 minutes until the peas are tender.
Add the salt.
Stir in lightly.
Remove from heat and cover again for another 2 minutes.
Serve in the cooking dish if possible.
