Add flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Add/ia/f the milk, the egg, and vanilla.
Beat at low speed of electric mixer till'blended.
Beat 2 minutes at medium speed, scraping sides of bowl.
Beat in remaining milk.
Beat 2 minutes more at medium speed.
Turn into a greased and lightly floured 9x9x2-inch baking pan.
Bake at 375° till wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, 25 to 30 minutes.
Cool on wire rack.
Frost cake with desired frosting.
