Directions

1. Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and silt into the large bowl of electric mixer; add shortening; stir in milk until blended; beat at medium speed for 2 minutes; add eggs and vanilla; beat another 2 minutes. Spread batter evenly in prepared pan.
2. Bake in moderate oven (350°) 30 to 40 minutes, or until top springs back when lightly pressed with fingertip.
