Brussels Sprouts Recipe
This brussels sprouts recipe is a lemony and spiced brussels sprouts preparation. Flavored with chicken broth and lemon juice, the brussels sprouts is spiced with nutmeg and can be served as desired.
Ingredients
1 pint Brussels sprouts trimmed
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon white vinegar
1/2 cup low sodium chicken broth
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 1/4 teaspoons cornstarch blended with 2 tablespoons cold water
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Directions
In a large saucepan, bring an inch of unsalted water to a boil; add the Brussels sprouts and cook, covered, for 10 to 12 minutes or until just tender.
Drain in a colander, rinse under cold running water to stop the cooking, and drain again.
Meanwhile, in a medium size saucepan over moderately high heat, boil the sugar and vinegar, swirling the pan, until the sugar is an amber color about 2 minutes.
Add the chicken broth and the lemon juice and stir in the dissolved cornstarch and nutmeg.
Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, for 1 minute.
Add the sprouts to the sauce; coat well.
