Herbed Brown Sauce Recipe
Ingredients
| Butter/Margarine | 3 Tablespoon | |
| Onion | 1 Large, finely chopped | |
| Plain flour | 2 Tablespoon | |
| 1 1/2 cups dark vegetable stock | ||
| Dried sage | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Dried thyme | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Ground black pepper | 1 To taste | |
| Soy sauce | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Salt | To Taste | |
Directions
Melt the butter in a frying pan and saute the onion until lightly browned.
Sprinkle the flour over the onions and stir to make a thick paste.
Gradually add the stock to the thick paste, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
Bring the sauce to a boil, add the herbs, salt, pepper and soy sauce.
Simmer gently for 3 minutes and use immediately.
