French Brown Sauce Recipe
How is it that you still haven't tried my recipe for Brown Sauce. I prefer to make Brown Sauce as a Side Dish for all my family get-togethers. The French Brown Sauce has a way of addicting you to it on the first bite. This is an ideal dish to include in today's menu.
Ingredients
2 oz. fat
1/4 bay leaf
2 onions, sliced
Sprig of parsley
2 small carrots, sliced
Salt and pepper to taste
1 oz. flour
Gravy browning if necessary
1 pt. stock
Directions
Fry the vegetables and fat in the saucepan until they are lightly browned.
Add the flour, and cook until light brown.
Then add the bay leaf and parsley and finish in the same way as for the Roux Method.
Strain before using, and add gravy browning if a darker colour is required.
