Brown Beef Stew Recipe
Ingredients
3 lbs. beef (cut in 2-inch cubes)
2 tablespoons fat
2 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon thyme
3 cups water
6-8 small whole onions (cooked)
6-8 medium potatoes (cooked)
6-8 small carrots (cooked)
1 cup lima beans (cooked)
Directions
Brown meat in hot fat over medium-high heat.
Season and add 3 cups water.
Cover and simmer over low heat until tender, about 1-1 1/2 hours.
Thicken with cornstarch mixture to desired consistency.
Add cooked vegetables just before serving and mix lightly.
