Ingredients

1/2 cup chili sauce

2 tablespoons prepared mustard

1 tablespoon red-wine vinegar

2 teaspoons Worcestershire

1 teaspoon sugar

Salt

Oregano leaves

1 beef chuck 7-bone steak, 1 1/4 inches thick

Unseasoned meat tenderizer

2 tablespoons salad oil

4 green peppers, cut into 1/2-inch-wide strips

4 large onions, sliced

1/4 teaspoon cracked pepper

1 medium-sized tomato, cut into thin wedges

Directions

1. Preheat broiler if manufacturer directs. In small bowl, combine chili sauce, mustard, vinegar, Worcestershire, sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon oregano; set mixture aside.
2. Place beef chuck 7-bone steak on rack in broiling pan. Sprinkle steak with meat tenderizer as label directs. Broil steak 10 minutes; brush half of chili-sauce mixture on steak; broil 5 minutes longer. Turn steak; broil 10 minutes. Brush steak with remaining sauce; broil 5 minutes longer for rare or until of desired done-ness.
3. Meanwhile, in 5-quart Dutch oven or sauce-pot over medium heat, in hot salad oil, cook green peppers, onions, pepper, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon oregano until vegetables are tender, stirring frequently. Add tomato wedges; heat through.
