4 tablespoons butter or margarine
 
1 medium-sized onion, chopped
 
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
 
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
 
1/4 teaspoon pepper
 
2 cups milk
 
1 10-ounce package frozen chopped broccoli

Directions

1. In 2-quart saucepan over medium heat, cook butter or margarine and onion, stirring occasionally, until onion is tender. Stir in flour, salt, and pepper until blended; cook 1 minute. Gradually stir in milk; cook, stirring constantly, until sauce thickens and is smooth.
2. Stir in frozen broccoli, separating broccoli with fork; heat to boiling. Over low heat, cook mixture 2 to 3 minutes, until broccoli is tender
