Ingredients

 
1 cup all purpose flour 250 mL
 
1 cup rolled oats 250 mL
 
1/2 cup brown sugar 125 mL
 
2 tsp baking powder 10 mL
 
1/2 tsp baking soda 2 mL
 
1/2 tsp salt 2 mL
 
1/2 tsp cinnamon 2 mL
 
1/2 cup currants or raisins 125 mL
 
1 egg
 
1 cup buttermilk 250 mL
 
1/3 cup vegetable oil 75 mL

Directions

In large bowl, combine flour, oats, sugar, baking powder, soda, salt and cinnamon; mix thoroughly.
Stir in currants.
In mixing bowl, beat egg; blend in buttermilk and oil.
Add to dry ingredients, stirring just until moistened.
Spoon into greased muffin cups, filling each 2/3 full.
Bake in 375°F (190°C) oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until firm to the touch.
