Directions

Grease an oven ware dish with butter and line with thin!,slices of bread and butter.
Place on this a layer of grated cheese and sliced and peeled tomatoes; sprinkle with grated onion, salt and pepper.
Add another layer' of bread and butter, then cheese, tomato and grated onion.
Continue layers until dish is full.
Finish with bread slices.
Beat eggs well, add salt and pepper, and pour over the top.
Bake in a moderate oven for 35-45 mins.
