Bread Rolls Recipe
My longing for Bread Rolls strengthened during high school days. Trust me, you must try this Bread Rolls recipe.
Ingredients
1 lb. strong plain (all-purpose) flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 oz. (21) lard
1/2 pint warm water
Glaze:
Beaten egg or salted water
Poppy seeds (optional)
Directions
Prepare the dough to the initial rising stage, as for Basic white bread
Turn the risen dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 minutes.
Divide into 12 equal pieces.
Roll each piece of dough to a ball.
Place on floured baking sheets.
Put into polythene (plastic) bags and leave to rise in a warm place for 40 minutes or until doubled in size.
Brush the rolls with beaten egg or salted water and sprinkle with poppy seeds, if liked.
Bake in a hot oven, 450°F, Gas Mark 8 for about 20 minutes.
Transfer to a wire rack to cool.
