Ingredients
1 1/2 cups milk
12 slices day-old bread, crusts removed
Pinch of salt
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup raisins
Powdered sugar
Directions
Bring the milk to a boil.
Crumble the bread and add it to the milk.
Stir constantly until a thick porridge is formed.
Cool the mixture to lukewarm.
Add the salt, sugar, egg, vanilla, butter and raisins and mix well.
Butter an 8 inch spring form or other cake tin and pour in the mixture.
Bake in a preheated 350° oven for 35 minutes.
Let cool 5 minutes before removing from the pan.
