Brazil Nut Scotchies Recipe

Ingredients
| Sugar | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Shortening | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Molasses | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Cinnamon | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Vanilla | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Egg | 1 | |
| All-purpose flour-1 cup, sifted | ||
| Baking soda | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Baking powder | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Quick-cooking oats-1 cup | ||
| Brazil nuts | 1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Sliced Brazil nuts- for topping | ||
Directions
MAKING
1)In a bowl, beat together sugar and shortening until light and fluffy.
2)Add molasses, salt, cinnamon, vanilla and egg and beat thoroughly.
3)In another bowl, sift together flour, soda' and baking powder.
4)Add to shortening mixture and mix well.
5)Add oats and nuts. Mix well.
6)Take greased baking sheets and drop leveled tablespoons on them.
7)Top with sliced nuts.
8)Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
SERVING
9) Serve the Brazil nut Scotchies when desired.
