Brazil Nut Bars Recipe
Ingredients
| Flour | 2 Cup (16 tbs), sieved | |
| Baking powder | 2 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 3/4 Teaspoon | |
| Cinnamon powder | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Vegetable shortening | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Butter margarine | 1/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Firmly packed light brown sugar | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Egg- 2 no-€™s, beaten | ||
| Vanilla extract | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Brazil nuts | 1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Egg white | 1 , beaten | |
| Butter for greasing | ||
Directions
GETTING READY
1. Pre heat an oven at 175 C (350 F).
2. Grease an 8 inch x 8 inch x 2 inch baking pan or 15 inch x 10 inch baking pan and keep aside.
MAKING
3. In a medium sized bowl, combine dry ingredients. Sieve together.
4. In a medium sized bowl, combine sugar, butter and shortening. Cream well.
5. Add eggs and vanilla extract and beat well till mixture is light and fluffy.
6. Add sieved ingredients and half quantity nuts and fold gently using a wooden spatula.
7. Transfer mixture on to greased pan and brush with beaten egg white.
8. Top with remaining nuts and bake in pre heated oven for 20 to 30 minutes or till done.
9. Once baked, remove from oven and keep aside to cool.
10. Cut into bars or squares. Makes 72 (1 inch x 2 inch) bars.

11. Serve warm.
