Bratwurst Bake Recipe
Ingredients
6 fully cooked bratwurst
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 large onion, peeled and sliced
1 clove of garlic, minced
1 can (1 pound) Italian tomatoes
1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
1 tablespoon leaf oregano, crumbled
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon bottled steak sauce
2 cans (1 pound, 4 ounces each) chick peas, drained
How to make Bratwurst Bake
Brown bratwurst in vegetable oil in a Dutch oven; remove from pan with a slotted spoon.Add onion and garlic to drippings in Dutch oven; saute until soft.
Stir in tomatoes and paste, oregano, salt, pepper, steak sauce and chick peas.
Heat 3 minutes, or until bubbly.
Arrange bratwurst on top.
Do not cover.
Bake in moderate oven (350°) for 45 minutes, or until bubbly.
Note—Chill if made ahead, then reheat on grill at your eating spot.
