Braided Egg Bread Recipe
Ingredients
2 envelopes yeast
1 cup lukewarm water
1/3 cup milk
2 tsp salt
3 tbsp sugar
3 tbsp butter,melted
2 eggs, beaten
4 cups all purpose flour
How to make Braided Egg Bread
Preheat oven to 200 °F (95 °C).Place a saucepan filled with hot water on bottom rack.
In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.
Let stand 10 minutes.
Fold in remaining ingredients, except eggs and flour.
Mix in three quarters of beaten eggs.
Knead in flour.
Place in oven.
Let dough rise 30 minutes.
Punch down dough.
Let rise in oven 15 more minutes.
Divide dough into 3 rolls.
Braid together.
Place on a buttered baking sheet.
Return to oven until braid doubles in size.
Remove bread and water filled saucepan from oven.
Increase temperature to 375 °F (190 °C).
Brush with remaining beaten egg.
Return braid to oven.
Bake on top rack 20-30 minutes.
