Bourekakia Recipe
Ingredients
| Feta cheese | 1/4 pound | |
| Parsley | 2 Teaspoon, chopped | |
| Dash of nutmeg | ||
| Butter | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs), melted | |
| Whole wheat flour | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Milk | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Egg | 1 , Well beaten | |
| 4 12 x 16-inch sheets FILO PASTRY | ||
Directions
Preheat oven to 350° F.
Crumble cheese into a large bowl.
Add parsley and nutmeg and mix well.
Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a small saucepan, then blend in flour.
Add milk and cook over low heat until mixture boils and thickens.
Stir 1 tablespoonful of hot mixture into the egg, then add the egg mixture to the hot mixture in the saucepan.
Cook for about 2 minutes over low heat, stirring constantly.
Add mixture to cheese and blend well.
Place 1 sheet of pastry on a sheet of wax paper on large cutting board or flat counter top.
Brush with butter, then add another sheet of pastry and continue stacking layers until all pastry is used.
Cut into 5-inch squares.
Place heaping tablespoonful of cheese mixture in center of each square and fold to form triangle.
Moisten edges and press together firmly on three sides to enclose cheese mixture securely.
Place on ungreased baking sheet.
Brush tops with melted butter and bake in preheated oven 30 to 35 minutes or until tops are crisp and golden brown.
