Boston Brown Bread Using Buttermilk Recipe
Ingredients
| All Purpose Flour – 1 ¼ cup, sifted | ||
| Baking powder | 2 Teaspoon | |
| Soda | 3/4 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Graham Flour – 1 ¼ cup | ||
| California Walnuts – 1 cup, chopped | ||
| Eggs | 7 Small | |
| Packed brown sugar | 1/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Light Molasses – ½ cup | ||
| Buttermilk | 3/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Shortening | 3 Tablespoon, melted | |
Directions
MAKING
1) In a bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, soda and salt
2) Add in the graham flour and walnuts
3) Using a fork lightly beat the eggs and then beat in the brown sugar, molasses, buttermilk and the shortening
4) Add in the dry mixture till the flour is moistened well
5) Spoon the mixture to 3 greased 1 pound sized can
6) Bake for 45 minutes at 350F till the bread is done
7) Allow to stand for 10minutes and then turn out onto a wire rack
SERVING
8) Serve warm or cold
