Ingredients

 
2 pounds tenderloin of lamb
 
1 large turnip
 
1/2 cup soy sauce
 
1/2 cup sherry
 
1 teaspoon salt
 
1/4 cup sugar
 
2 stalks leeks
 
Enough water to barely cover meat

Directions

Cut the lean meat into 1 inch cubes and place in a pan.
Pour enough boiling water to half cover the meat.
Peel the turnip and place in the middle of the meat and bring the water to a boil.
Skim carefully remove the turnip and discard.
Add the sherry, soy sauce and salt to taste and when it comes to a boil turn the heat low and let it simmer for about 1 1/2 hours or till just before the meat is done.
Add the sugar.
Wash and cut the leeks into 1 inch lengths and add to the meat mixture.
Simmer for 5 minutes longer and serve very hot in a deep bowl with gravy.
