Boiled Ham Dinner Recipe
Ingredients
| 3- to 4-lb sweet-pickled shoulder or cottage roll | ||
| Cold water to cover | ||
| Bay Leaf | 1 | |
| 1 small turnip, peeled and cut in 8 pieces | ||
| 8 each, small peeled potatoes, onions, carrots | ||
| 2 parsnips, peeled and cut in 8 pieces | ||
Directions
Cover pork with cold water and bring to a boil.
Drain and add 3 cups warm water, or enough to half cover the meat.
Add bay leaf and cover the pan.
Simmer for 2 1/2 hours or until almost tender.
Add turnip; cover and simmer 15 minutes.
Add remaining vegetables; cover and simmer until both meat and vegetables are tender about 20 minutes.
Arrange meat and vegetables on a hot platter.
Dress vegetables with melted butter and chopped parsley.
