Boiled Apple Dumplings Recipe
Ingredients
| Flour | 3 Cup (48 tbs) | |
| Milk | 1 | |
| Baking powder | 4 Teaspoon | |
| Sugar | 1 | |
| Salt | 1⁄2 Teaspoon | |
| Vegetable shortening | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Apples | 3 Large | |
| Sugar | 6 Teaspoon |
Directions
Sift baking powder, salt, and sugar with flour into bowl.
Cut in shortening until mixture is in crumbs the size of peas.
Stir in 1/4 cup milk.
On floured board, roll dough to 1-1/2 inch thickness.
Cut into six squares.
Pare and core apples and cut in half.
Place a half on each, square of dough and sprinkle with 1 teaspoon sugar.
Pull the four corners of the dough together, dampen slightly, and press edges to seal.
Tie each dumpling in a clean piece of white muslin.
Drop dumplings into a large, kettle of boiling water.
Cook 20-25 minutes depending on size of apple.
Serve with milk, cinnamon, and sugar, if desired.
