1/2 pound butter
3 packages (9 ounces) cream cheese
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 medium-size eggs, well beaten
Cherry or apricot jam
Directions
Cream the butter and cheese until well blended.
Sift the flour with the sugar, salt, and baking powder.
Work into the creamed mixture, then add the beaten eggs, mixing to form a stiff dough.
Chill until firm enough for rolling, several hours or overnight.
Roll out one quarter of the dough at a time on a lightly floured board to slightly less than 1/4-inch thickness.
Cut into rounds with a 1 3/4 inch cutter.
Make a deep indentation in the center of each with your thumb.
Fill the depression with jam.
Place on an ungreased cookie sheet, spacing the cookies an inch apart.
Bake in a 375° oven for about 15 minutes, or until golden.
