Beef In Red Wine Pot Roast Recipe
Ingredients
| Steak | 1 Pound | |
| Lard | 1 Ounce | |
| Flour | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Red wine | 1/2 Pint | |
| Water | 1/4 Pint | |
| Garlic | 1 Clove (5gm), crushed | |
| Tomato puree | 2 Teaspoon | |
| 3 oz lean bacon, derinded and cut in strips | ||
| 12 baby onions, peeled | ||
| Mushrooms | 4 Ounce, quartered | |
| Salt | To Taste | |
| Pepper | To Taste | |
Directions
Brown meat on all sides in hot lard in a saucepan for 2-3 min.
Sprinkle in the flour and brown it carefully.
Add wine, water, garlic, tomato puree, salt and pepper.
Fry bacon and onions together for 5 min.
Add to the meat.
Cover with wetted greaseproof paper and a lid, and simmer gently for 2 hours.
Add mushrooms and cook for a further 10-15 min.
