Bobotie Recipe
Ingredients
| Corn oil | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Onions | 225 Gram | |
| Mincedbeef - 675 g (1 1/2 b) , | ||
| Small cooking apple - 1, peeled and chopped | ||
| Raisins | 50 Gram (Curry powder - 1 tablespoon) | |
| Peanuts | 50 Gram (Curry powder - 1 tablespoon) | |
| Lemon juice | 1 Small (Curry powder - 1 tablespoon) | |
| Salt | To Taste (Curry powder - 1 tablespoon) | |
| black pepper | 1 (Curry powder - 1 tablespoon) | |
| Bay leaves | 2 (Curry powder - 1 tablespoon) | |
| Egg | 1 (Curry powder - 1 tablespoon) | |
| Milk - 150 ml (1/4 -pint) | ||
Directions
GETTING READY
1 Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees C/ Gas Mark 4)
MAKING
2 In a large saucepan, heat the oil.
3 Add in the onion.
4 Saute for about 3 minutes, or until the onions just begins to brown.
5 Add in the minced beef and apple.
6 Saute, for about 3 minutes, stirring constantly,
7 Stir in the curry powder, raisins, peanuts and lemon juice with seasoning to taste.
8 Cook over a very low heat for 5 minutes, mixing well.
9 To a 1 -litre (1 1/2-pint) casserole, transfer the beef mixture
10 Into the top of the mixture, press the bay leaves.
11 Bake, covered in the oven for 45 minutes.
12 Meanwhile, in a bowl combine the egg with the milk and beat together.
13 Remove the cover from the casserole, and discard the bay leaves.
14 Pour the egg mixture over the meat.
15 Return the dish to the oven and bake, uncovered, for 15 to 20 minutes or until the topping is set.
SERVING
16 Serve hot.
