Recipe Story

Who doesn't love deviled eggs, right? Besides, the egg is a very versatile thing, you can make many spooky things with it. Dyed the yolks and hand-painted veins on the whites give the word 'scary' a whole new dimension. But the basic recipe is yummy, with or without the special effects.

Ingredients

6 Hard-boiled eggs (separated into whites and yolks)
 Creme fraiche1/3 Cup (16 tbs)
Sriracha or other spicy Asian chili sauce - 1 teaspoon
 Cilantro1 Tablespoon, chopped
 Spicy mustard1/2 Teaspoon
 Lime zest - 1/4 of a lime
 Lime juice1 Teaspoon
 Salt1 To taste
Red food coloring (to your color preference)
Sliced black olives – as needed

Directions

MAKING
1. Hard-boil the eggs.
2. Using a knife, slice lengthwise, and put all the yolks into a mixing bowl.
3. Mash creme fraiche, bacon, chili sauce, cilantro, lime zest and juice and salt with the cooked yolks.
4. Add food coloring until the yolks are the desired color.
5. Spoon yolk mixture back into egg whites.
6. Top each half with a sliced olive as the pupil.
7. Dip a toothpick into the red food coloring and lightly draw "bloodshot" veins across the whites.

SERVING
