Ingredients

 
1 lb frozen chopped turnip greens
 
2 cups dried black eyed peas (soaked overnight in water)
 
Chicken stock – 2 cups for each dish (4 in all)
 
3 oz bacon chopped (for each recipe)

Directions

For turnip greens
Place a cast iron pot on medium heat. Add bacon to the pot and cook. Stir. When it starts releasing fat, add the greens to the pot. Add chicken stock and bring to a boil. Add salt and pepper. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for an hour. Serve.

For black eyed peas
Place a cast iron pot on medium heat. Add bacon to it and cook. Add the beans (soaked and drained). Add chicken stock and cover and cook. Bring to a boil. Add salt and pepper. Cover, reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes. Serve.
