Bharda palya Recipe

There are variations to this it can be done grating vegetables that can be sauteed. This is the most common dish prepared almost daily at almost all houses of Northern Karanataka

Ingredients

Soaked Chana Dal - 3/4 cup
Red Chillies - 3 - 5
Coriander powder - 1 & 1/2 tsp
jeera powder - 1 & 1/2 tsp
salt ot taste
Sauteed vegetables- 1/4 cup(like, okra, bell pepper, methi, gawar,onion,gourd)

How to make Bharda palya

Grind the soaked chana dal and red chillies with salt, dhania powder, jeera powder, and a pinch of hing. Add very little water if necessary. Grind it coarse.
Heat the oil an a curry pan. Add mustards, turmeric and hing. After mustards stop popping add any of the above mentioned vegetable and saute them. Do not add water. Allow it to get tender and well cooked. To this add ground chana dal paste. Mix it well and allow it to sit on the stove for 5 to 7 minutes. Serve hot with Chapatis or rice
