Best Chili Con Carne Recipe Video

Here's a quick video I put together for Hello Fresh to make the best chili con carne. Its actually a chocolate chili con carne, using star anise to give a great depth of flavour with minimal cooking time.

 Basmati rice200 Gram (for rice)
 Water300 Milliliter (for rice)
 Salt1 Teaspoon (to taste, for rice)
 Olive oil1 Tablespoon
 Red onion1 Medium, chopped finely
 Chili pepper1 Large, chopped finely (deseeded)
 Garlic1 Clove (5 gm), chopped finely
 Beef200 Gram (2 cups, minced)
 Pepper1 Teaspoon (to taste)
 Kidney beans100 Gram (boiled)
 Tomato ketchup1 Tablespoon
 Vegetable stock3 Cup (48 tbs) (3 cubes)
 Chili powder1 Teaspoon
 Star anise1 Medium
 Chocolate2 Tablespoon, grated

Directions

GETTING READY
1. Into a pan of simmering water, add washed basmati rice and season with salt. Allow it to simmer till the rice is cooked. Keep Aside.
2. Chop the onion, garlic finely.
3. Cut the chilli lengthwise and deseed it and chop it finely.

MAKING
4. Heat a frying pan on medium heat, add olive oil, add onion, garlic, chilli. Stir for 5 minutes or till onion gets translucent.
5. Transfer it into a bowl.
6. In the same pan, add the minced meat in batches till brown.
7. Into the pan with meat, add the onion mixture and stir.
8. To this add salt, pepper, kidney beans, ketchup, stock cubes, chilli powder, star anise. Stir well to mix.
9. Put chocolate into this mixture. Stir to mix.
10. Pour water into it and let it bubble till cooked.

SERVING
11.In a shallow bowl, serve the cooked rice topped with the chili meat. Serve it hot.
