Belgian Waffles Recipe
Ingredients
| All purpose flour | 1/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 1 teaspoon each double-acting baking powder and granulated sugar | ||
| Baking soda | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Buttermilk | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Egg | 1 , separated | |
| Vegetable oil | 2 Teaspoon | |
| Vanilla extract | 1 Teaspoon | |
| 1 cup vanilla or strawberry ice cream | ||
| Strawberries | 3/4 Cup (16 tbs), sliced | |
Directions
1. Onto sheet of wax paper or a paper plate sift together dry ingredients; set aside.
2. In small mixing bowl combine milk, egg yolk, oil, and vanilla; add sifted ingredients and, using electric mixer, beat until smooth.
3. Spray nonstick waffle iron with nonstick cooking spray and heat. In separate bowl, using clean beaters, beat egg white until stiff but not dry; fold into batter. Pour batter onto waffle iron and cook according to manufacturer's directions.
4. Separate cooked waffle into 4 sections; onto each of 2 dessert plates place 2 sections and top with 1/2 cup ice cream and half of the strawberries.
