 Monosodium glutamate1 Teaspoon
 10 to 12 medium-size beets, peeled and thinly sliced
 2 large lettuce leaves, dripping with water
 1 tablespoon chopped chives or parsley
 Salt To Taste
 Pepper To Taste

Directions

Put butter into frying pan; add sugar, mono-sodium glutamate, and beets.
Spread out the lettuce leaves over beets.
Cover and cook over low heat for 25 minutes.
Remove the lettuce leaves; add salt and pepper, sprinkle on the chives or parsley, and mix well.
