Beef Steak Pie Recipe
Ingredients
| Rump, flank or chuck steak- 2 pounds | ||
| Plain pastry- 1 recipe | ||
| Onion | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Potatoes- 2 cups sliced cooked | ||
| Butter or other fat- as required | ||
| Flour- as required | ||
| Egg- as required | ||
| Salt | To Taste | |
| Pepper | To Taste | |
Directions
GETTING READY
1.Start by preheating the oven to 400F degrees
2.Also cut the meat into 2x1 inch strips
MAKING
3.In a pot, cover meat and bones along with water and simmer for 1 hour
4.Using pastry line the sides of baking dish with pastry
5.In the baking dish, place a layer of meat and onion and sprinkle with salt and pepper
6.Also add a layer of sliced potatoes and dot with butter
7.Alternate steak and potato layers until dish is full
8.Thicken gravy with browned flour and pour into dish
9.Cover with a top crust, brush with beaten egg
10.Bake in hot oven for 30 minutes
