2 large Beefsteak tomatoes
 
1 medium-sized Italian red or other mild sweet onion
 
1/4 cup olive oil
 
2 teaspoons oregano

Directions

Cut tomatoes in 1/2-inch-thick slices; slice onion.
Place in alternate layers in a large bowl.
For the dressing, mix together olive oil, oregano, and salt.
Pour the dressing over the tomatoes and onions, cover, and refrigerate for 1 hour or longer.
