Beef Filled Corn Bread Squares Recipe
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1/3 cup chopped onion
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 cup catsup
1 10-ounce package corn bread mix
1/2 cup shredded american cheese
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 7 1/2-ounce can tomatoes, cut up
2 tablespoons chopped canned green chili peppers
2 tablespoons chopped green pepper
1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
Directions
In skillet cook ground beef, onion, and garlic till meat is browned; drain off fat.
Stir in catsup and teaspoon salt.
In bowl prepare corn bread mix according to package direc-tions.
Spread half of the batter in a greased 8x8x2-inch baking pan.
Spoon meat mixture over batter in pan; sprinkle with cheese.
Spread remaining batter over cheese.
Bake, uncovered, in 350° oven for 30 to 35 minutes.
Let stand 5 minutes before cutting.
Meanwhile, in small saucepan combine cornstarch and 2 tablespoons cold water.
Stir in undrained tomatoes, chili peppers, green pepper, and worcestershire.
Cook and stir till thickened and bubbly.
Cut corn bread into squares; serve tomato mixture atop.
