Beef Wheels Recipe

Ingredients
2 tbsp (30 ml) oil
1 lb (450 g) lean ground beef
1 onion, thinly sliced
1/4 Cup (60 ml) ketchup
1/4 tsp (1 ml) garlic salt
1/4 tsp (1 ml) pepper
3/4 Cup (180 ml) canned cream of mushroom soup
Pastry 2 1/2 Cups (560 ml) flour
2 tbsp (30 ml) baking powder
1/2 tsp (2 ml) salt
1 tsp (5 ml) curry powder
1/2 Cup (80 ml) vegetable shortening
1/3 Cup (80 ml) milk
Directions
– Preheat oven to 400 °F (205 °C).
– In a skillet, heat oil and saute ground beef with onion. Pour off excess fat.
– Add ketchup, garlic salt, pepper, and cream of mushroom soup and let stand to cool.
– In a large bowl, combine pastry ingredients, knead and roll pastry into a 12-inch (30 cm) square.
– Spoon meat mixture onto pastry square, roll and press with fingers to seal. Slice into 8 pieces, 1 1/2 inches (4 cm) thick.
– In a well-greased, round baking dish, arrange 7 wheels in a circle and place one in the middle.
– Cook in oven for 20 to 25 minutes and serve hot, coated with brown gravy or mushroom sauce.
